Coming to Helena, MT for the 2024 Barefoot Water Ski National Championships?
Consider going to Glacier National Park, which was established in 1910.
Glacier is a showcase of melting glaciers, alpine meadows, carved valleys, and spectacular lakes. With over 700 miles of trails, Glacier is a paradise for adventurous visitors seeking wilderness steeped in human history. Relive the days of old through historic chalets, lodges, and the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road.
The park encompasses more than 1 million acres. It includes 2 mountain ranges (sub ranges of the Rocky Mountains) and 130 lakes. With the crown jewel being McDonald Lake.
The Going to the Sun Road crosses the park and the Continental Divide; and goes through Logan Pass at a height of 6646 feet. Spectacular vista and steep cliffs make this an exciting drive.
Glacier National Park is home to 71 species of mammals, 276 species of birds, a mix of native and invasive species of fish, countless species of insects, and several different types of amphibians and reptiles. During your hike, there will be many opportunities to view wildlife in Glacier National Park.
Glacier Park is also very busy, and reservations to enter the park are required for the Going to the Sun Road. For lodging, also reserve early, especially in the park. Please remember that the park had over 2 million visitors in 2020. So early reservations are suggested, in advance, or hope to get lucky.
