August Weather In Helena

The average rain fall for the entire month of August is .09 inches. Yes, Point Zero Nine inches of water. Helena is in the Prickly Pear Valley, which is semi-arid.  Know what a Prickly Pear is? Yes, it is a cactus. In 1805, members of the Lewis and Clark expedition where the first white men to visit the valley. While investigating on foot, William Clark stepped on and had to remove 17 cactus spines from his foot. This caused him to name the nearby creek and valley Prickly Pear. Just FYI, average rainfall in Houston, TX is 4.84 inches. 

Average weather in Helena, MT in August is a high of 87 degrees Fahrenheit and an average low of 50.6 degrees Fahrenheit. Extreme temperatures show an all-time high of 97 degrees and an all-time low of 28 degrees for August 25th.

The average humidity is “high” in August for Helena Valley. It averages 53%. December, however, is the most humid at 68% and July the lowest at 46%. In Houston, TX it ranges from 93% to 55% in August during the day. Mornings being higher humidity.  

Average wind speed in August is 7 mph. The prevailing wind direction is from the West, this is why trees on planted on the West Side. The path of skiing on the West Side of the lake is known as Barefoot Alley, as the water can be good even with west winds up to 20 mph.
