Montana is East of the State of Washington, with the northern part of Idaho squished between them.
Montana has the Rocky Mountains running down the middle and is considered part of the Rocky Mountain West. AKA, Wild Wild West! Montana borders with Canada to the North and Idaho and Wyoming to the South.
Helena is the Capital of Montana and is East of the continental divide, and just west of center of the state.
Montana is the Fourth largest state by area behind Alaska, Texas and California. It is the Eighth least populated State (counting DC).
The western side of the state is mountainous with the eastern side being prairies and Badlands.
Montana is rich is natural resources. That includes oil, gas, coal, mining and lumber. Also, agriculture including cattle, sheep and grains. The Flathead Region is noted for huckleberries and cherries.
Montana became a state in 1889. After being a territory.
Montana is noted for being home to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park (shared with Wyoming and Idaho) , The Beartooth Highway, Flathead Lake, Big Sky Resort, Little Big Horn and many other attractions. Helena is halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.
